Things I'm currently grateful for: Great food and great coworkers, chocolate, life coaches, new books to read, coffee, phone calls and emails, patience

When taking direction in creating your life, it's hard not to compare yourself to others. It's also hard not to compare yourself to the excessive standards one sets up for oneself. This week and last week have been steps. Small steps moving forward. Emails. Phone calls. Conversations with strangers. I'm excited to have to have the opportunity to be considered for a wedding planning assistant position in Florida. I'm also excited to be working on Social Media posts for Amy Eiken, and to be hopefully starting work with Susie Bibler and others soon. Keeping sight of your goals and not stressing about set backs sounds great on paper, but it's been a hard lesson in practice. Since I'm waiting until April for the position in Florida, I have created goals to achieve before then. (And I'm actually planning to keep these)

  • Save Money

  • Learn more about wedding planning

  • Get into a habit of creating healthy habits (read: work out and stop eating tacos)

  • Stop complaining about adulting and get it together

Recently I have started reading Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley and The Universe has your back by Gabriel Berstein. Both of these books were given to me by a life coach and they both resonate well with Jen Sincero's books and Austin Kleon books. In Mike Dooley's book, he speaks about thoughts, "Thoughts become things! This is the underlying principle that turns a wish into reality. It's what powers positive thinking and gives rise to the Law of Attraction, and it's why visualizations work." One of the most powerful tools we have is our brain. Our brain can create a perception of reality that sucks or that is awesome; it's up to us to realize how we our using our brain. As corny, dorky, and silly as this sounds, it actually works, "Accordingly, nothing plays a greater role in how we construct our fortunes and misfortunes than the thoughts we choose to think." This is great news for those of us who are stuck in our daydreams. It also shows that you have the agency to create you want to live which is great when you feel trapped. The thought of wedding planning was just a thought back in December, but by taking some steps and risks I am progressively moving towards my dream job. How are your thoughts manifesting in your life?
