In many self books and motivational speakers on Youtube there is a discussion about raising your frequency. (There is even vibrational music dedicated to it). Raising your frequency does not only gives you a higher energy to operate on, it also gives you a positive perspective of the world. Raising your frequency is vital when trying to tackle new and big steps in your life that are outside one's comfort zone.

In Jen Sincero's You are a Badass at Making Money, Chapter 9 specifically details how to raise your frequency by options you choose. She states, "We waste so much time letting our fears push us around and half the time our fears and doubts never even freaking pan out! You'd think we would have caught on to that one by now. Stay focused on your desires , not your fears, and trust that everything will grow and fall into place as it's meant to. What happens as you grow and change is you peel away the layers of your old self, and things of a lower nature drop away in order to make room for things of a higher nature." Fear and doubt are the two reasons many people talk themselves out of the career they want, the friendships they want, the fitness goals they want, and ultimately the life they want to live. To combat those problems, one must raise their frequency.

In order to fully change your life you need to boost your frequency.

Sincero touches on the fact that one must improve their environment along with their social circle to create positive change.

Similarly, Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project is a book full of ideas on how Rubin raised her frequency. In her opening pages she states, "It was time to expect more of myself. Yet as I thought about happiness, I kept running up against paradoxes. I wanted to change myself but accept myself. I wanted to take myself less seriously- and also more seriously. I wanted to use my time well, but I also wanted to wander, to play, to read at a whim." Rubin's book is a how-to raise your frequency level during each month of a given year. Each month she tackles a different area in her life such as relationships, work, finances, attitude, etc.

The difference between the two books is that each is using frequency in a specific and particular manner. Rubin is providing the reader with her journey. She is seeking happiness through a range of literature from philosophy, religion, psychology, medicine journals, memoirs, and self help novels. She takes information from them, analyzes her life, and applies that information. Sinceo is providing the reader with self help in order to change a financial situation. She draws on readings from psychology and self help books, and uses her life an example/ model for the reader.

Taking ideas from both of these authors, I have created a goals chart for each day to keep myself focused and driven towards raising my frequency. Much like Rubin, I tend to have very Type A personality traits with lists, visualization, and the need for gold stars (the need for external validation). On my goals chart I have columns for daily accomplishments such as working out, eating clean, crating, reading, blogging, career goals, cleaning, mindfulness/ gratitude, good financial decisions, and creating a positive social circle. For the month of February I will keep a diligent track of how I am performing in each category. This will be used as a visual reminder to be consistent with raising my frequency and staying focused on what is important.

Austin Kleon also discusses the importance of keeping a log book and a calendar to keep perspective, to see growth, and to keep consistency with creative work. In Steal Like An Artist he states, "Amassing a body of work or building a career is a lot about the slow accumulation of little bits of effort over time. Writing a page each day doesn't seem like much, but do it for 365 days and you have enough to fill a novel. One successful client pitch is a small victory, but a dozen of them can get you a promotion." Small details lead to a bigger picture, and small actions over time will build a higher frequency.

I'm very excited for the month of February and I can't wait to see positive changes in my perspective, attitude, and my energy. What are you doing to raise your frequency this month?
